Yesterday iBET received the visit of Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp, Chairman of the Executive Board of Merck KG

During his visit to Portugal, Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp, Chairman of the Executive Board of Merck KG, took the opportunity to visit two research institutes that showcase the high scientific expertise that Portugal has offer: iBET and Fundação Champalimaud. 

The afternoon began with a visit to Fundação Champalimaud, one of the most renowned Foundations in Portugal that aims to develop programs that transfers research into tangible outcome for patients around the world.

Later in the afternoon a visit to iBET with whom, and as part of its global and local strategy, Merck has established a partnership to develop a project to fight Malaria in Africa; a project that has the objective to establish a cellular screening platform for the discovery of new anti-malarial drugs which act on the liver stage of infection.

It is worth mentioning that iBET’s is proud to have a long lasting collaboration relation with Merck which dates from 1997.
